I completed 7 triathlons in my first season of triathlon, put on by various sponsors. Though far from an expert, I do feel qualified to say that the Vermont Series was the most enjoyable of all that I participated in. The volunteers are smiling and helpful. The venue is beautiful. And the competitors are all a pleasure.
It’s the types of competitors that Vermont Sun attracts that I found to be most interesting. There is a diverse mix of experienced veterans who take it very seriously, and “newbies” just getting their feet wet. The great thing is that those experienced triathletes are so willing and eager to lend assistance to the new folks. It creates a wonderful community atmosphere. In fact, in the last race of the series, as I was on the outward leg of the run course, the leader passed by on the inward leg, and as he passed each competitor, gave words of encouragement. Where else would you find this type of camaraderie at a competitive event?
