Just a short note to say what a wonderful event yesterday. The course is awesome as was the weather and the venue. What struck me after 30+ years racing was the genuine local flavor and feel of the entire event and the race atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and it actually felt like all competitors and spectators were one big team (think we not me). This is the way I remember many races early on in my triathlon journey (which includes 22 years as a USAT CRO enforcing the competitive rules). All too often today the business focus can take over and, while today’s races are still great and safe, they can tend to lose that sense of community.
So kudos for doing what you do; it is appreciated. I would love to come back next year – it is a drive from Virginia but well worth it. Thanks again for doing what you do for us more seasoned athletes and their families but more importantly for the next generation that will hopefully take up and continue in the sport.
